Village staff is receiving questions regarding the ice rink for this season –whether we are going flood the rink and/or whether we will have a skating season due to COVID concerns.
Health and government officials encourage outdoor exercise. Some of the best exercise is out on the ice! Weather permitting, we will attempt to create ice. Those who skate should be mindful of the current social distancing and facemask guidelines. The pavilion (warming area) may be open from time to time but the number of guests will be limited to comply with any current guidelines.
REMEMBER-we are subject to the whims of the weather. Ideally, we’d welcome daytime temperatures in the teens with cloud cover and overnight temperatures in the single digits. These temperatures should persist for a week to create enough quality ice. Once ice is created, constant temperatures below freezing will maintain the ice appropriately. Unfortunately, the temperatures the last two seasons have fluctuated so greatly that any attempt to create ice would have been futile. We continue to monitor the forecasts to plan accordingly. Thank you.
