The groundwater has been seeping through the road for quite some time but the colder temperature is causing the water to ice up for about 100 feet of the road. DPW staff will be cutting into the road and will install a perforated drainage pipe bedded in gravel so the groundwater can drain to the ravine on the south side of the road. While work is being performed, traffic will be reduced to one lane and flag people will be on site to direct traffic. Work should be completed within a day and a temporary asphalt patch will be placed until spring/early summer when a permanent patch can be placed.
