Homeowners or business owners remodeling or making changes to the exterior of their home or business must first appear and obtain approval from the Building Board. A $75 filing fee is required to appear before the Building Board. This fee is in addition to all other fees required in connection with the application for the issuance of a building permit. Homeowners or contractors must submit an application for a building permit, three sets of plans, and a survey.
The following are examples of projects that must appear before the Building Board:
New doors or patio doors
New homes and new construction
Pools and pool buildings
The Building Board generally meets on the first and third Fridays of every month at 7:45 a.m. It is a good idea for the applicant or his/her contractor to attend the meeting. The permit application, filing fee, and all related materials must be submitted by 12 p.m. on the Monday before each meeting.
To obtain more information as to whether a project must appear before the Building Board, please contact the Building Inspector by email or 414-247-6622.
